2021/22 Statement of Accounts and Tri Annual Review of Pensions pdf icon PDF 225 KB

To receive the report of the Finance Manager (S151 Officer)

Minutes:

The Finance Manager (S151 Officer) presented the report, the purpose of which was for Members to consider the impact of the Triennial Actuarial review of pensions and whether this warrants updates to the draft 2021/22 statement of accounts.

A brief discussion followed.

It was confirmed Grant Thornton had been included in the circulation of this agenda but had not given apologies.

To re-instate the accounts would require a substantial amount of work.

The Finance Manager (S151 Officer) advised that other authorities have also experienced this problem and only two other authorities within Devon had had their accounts signed off.

Following a query, the Chief Executive advised that the LGA are aware of this issue as several other authorities are in the same position.

It was proposed by Councillor P Hackett, seconded by Councillor D Brenton and –

Resolved:

·         That Members support the Council in not restating the 2021/22 statement of accounts and that the Chair of Audit & Governance writes to both the Public Sector Audit Appointments Body and Grant Thornton detailing the Councils position.
