The Council’s Licensing Committee
carries out the functions of the Council as Licensing Authority so
far as required or permitted by the Licensing Act 2003 in
accordance with sections 6,7,9 and 10 of that Act and regulations
thereunder.
The Licensing Committee also carries out the
functions of the Council as Licensing Authority under the Gambling
Act 2005.
The Licensing Committee is responsible for the
licensing and associated issues for areas including Food Premises,
Body Piercing, Hackney Carriage and Hire Cars, Boats and Boatmen,
Street Collections, House to House Collections, Animal Welfare,
Entertainment, consumption of Alcohol in Public Places and Scrap
Metal Dealers.
From the 7 May 2021, the law
requires all councils to hold formal meetings in person. The
Council is also required to follow Government guidance and ensure
that all venues used are Covid secure and that all appropriate
measures are put in place.
